Regular safety checks and professional maintenance of your vehicle’s braking system are essential to maintain high levels of safety and performance. Brakes are definitely not something you want to neglect.

The safety of you and your passengers revolves around three main factors: Tyres, Suspension and Brakes. All are equally important for obvious reasons. Don’t wait for your brakes to grind, squeal, vibrate, pull to one side or fail completely before taking action. Give us a call for a brake safety check. We will assess your brake system and run through any repairs or maintenance required.
There are a number of components in a brake system that need regular checking. The most obvious are the brake pads, or with brake drum assemblies, the brake shoes. Next are the rotors, or drums. Not only do the rotors wear, they can also lose their shape. Rotors can be machined to save money, provided we maintain the correct tolerances.
Other brake components are the Wheel Cylinders, Master Cylinder, Brake Hoses and Brake Callipers. Not only can we check these parts, Burnside Motors can diagnose problem components and repair or replace them as necessary. Finally, there’s the brake fluid, which should be flushed and replaced every 2 years for optimum braking performance.
Burnside Motors is your local suspension repair and replacement specialist. Your car’s suspension system is also paramount when it comes to safe handling on the road, so if you suspect suspension problems, bring your vehicle in for a thorough inspection.
Dampers is the more accurate term for shock absorbers. It’s these dampers that provide enough friction to dampen the springs in the shock absorber system. To put it simply, the springs absorb the shocks while driving and it’s the shock absorbers that control the spring action.
As mention under shock absorbers, it’s the role of the spring to actually absorb the bumps in the road, whether your vehicle is fitted with a torsion bar, coil springs or a leaf spring system. To maintain optimum performance, safety and driving comfort, it’s very important to have your car’s springs inspected on a regular basis.
While the shock absorbers and springs are key to suspension systems, there are other vital components as well, such as: suspension bushes, ball joints and tie rods. Just like with the springs and dampers, these parts also need regular inspection and servicing for maximum performance and safety.

Regular safety checks and professional maintenance of your brake system are essential.

What Our Clients Say

Brian and Pauline
We have been the happy customers of Burnside Motors since 2006, and cannot speak highly enough regarding the professionalism and attention to detail that Peter and Mal have consistently shown in the care of our vehicles. The detailing of any work carried out is meticulous, with any questions answered patiently and clearly, and any future work anticipated in a timely fashion.

Peert and Mal's gentlemanly courtesy, politeness, and helpfulness is at all times exemplary. They and their staff are unfailingly considerate, which we have increasingly appreciated the older we become.

We count ourselves fortunate in knowing Peter, and wish Burnside Motors continued success and many more happy customers.

Thanks again for a job well done. I really appreciate that you keep me completely informed throughout the whole process. Your advice on what needs to be fixed right now and what needs to looked at in the near future certainly helps me to keep on top of my car maintenance and plan ahead for upcoming expenses. It’s great to have a professional tradesman that I can trust. Although I live 20 minutes away it’s well worth my time (and money) to have you look after my vehicles. Thanks again. Well done.

We have had our cars serviced with Burnside Motors for around 15 years. We met the proprietor (Peter) through our involvement with surf life saving and started having our 2 cars serviced there. As our boys started driving and getting their cars they also had their cars serviced there. The service provided also extended to advice on suitable and reliable cars for our boys as well as pre purchase inspections, which in one case saved us a lemon purchase!! I am happy to say that we have found Burnside Motors to be completely honest and trustworthy and we could always be guaranteed reliable and professional service and advice. I think another of Burnside’s advantage as a mechanical service provider is their focus on preventative maintenance. In our time having our cars serviced, we have never had an on-road breakdown. A locally owned small business with professional, reliable, trustworthy and honest service – all the things we were looking for!!

No Nasty Surprises!

Have you ever had a nasty "surprise" when you went to pay for a repairs to your car?

We see customers too often who tell us that their previous repairer gave them bills for work they did not know about or did not authorise. We know what a shock this is, particularly if you had not budgeted for the extra cost. We will not do any extra work on your car beyond what you have authorised us to do. If we do feel that something else needs to be repaired urgently, we will inform you first, and give you a quote for the work. We will not proceed until we have your approval. We don't believe in "surprises".

Burnside motors doesn't do “service packages” like other repairers. We thoroughly inspect your vehicle first, contact you the owner with estimates before any work comences, and only with your authorisation can we continue.
